Fencing - The Basics

When we arrived here, the 30 acres had a boundary fence, and that was it.

However, having been on farms for 18 years, we already had a couple of sheep, eight orphan lambs and two horses. Without fences, feed management is no easy feat, nor is or good feed utilisation, pasture recovery and plain sanity - proper fences are worth their weight in gold!

In the past two years (and in the previous 16), fencing is always a constant need and skill - and to bring in a fencing contractor it can be an expensive process.

This workshop will cover core skills such as:

  • Basic knots

  • Wire joins

  • Straight-line tips

  • Fence repairs

  • Tools

    and more

With a pair of wire cutters and some leather gloves, you’ll have the basics sorted in no time.
